    Time to Make it Better

A week of action to support the Make It Better Project

A message to all members of Make It Better

    Hi there,

With Coming Out Week nearly upon us, there's never been a more important time to address the challenges facing our LGBT youth. You've probably seen the awful stories in the news about youngsters who feel that they have nowhere to turn and have taken their lives. It's so important that we address this epidemic.

Our "Equality Events" site has served a lot of different causes -- most recently, it was where a broad national coalition of LGBT organizations shared events around the Day of Decision in the Prop 8 case. Now we're transforming it into its next purpose: sharing events around the country related to Coming Out Week.

From Vermont to Las Vegas, From San Francisco to Houston, events are being planned across the country. Join us in gathering info about all the Coming Out Week events around America. (And the world!)

And if there's nothing yet near you, it's so easy to plan your own: just create an event on the site, put out the word to family, friends, and the media, and you'll have done your part to raise awareness.

And once Coming Out Week is over, the GSA Network is hard at work on a long-term "Make It Better" project to empower youth to improve their lives. They'll be connecting kids with each other and helping them to find the support they need. Check out their work at http://MakeItBetterProject.org, and spread the word!

Thanks again for making a difference in the fight for our freedoms -- whether it's the freedom to marry or the freedom to live without harassment.

    Love,

Your friendly neighborhood coming-outers: Sean, Molly, and Matt
