"For the Bible Tells Me So" this Sunday

Subject: Doc Film "For the Bible Tells Me So" this Sunday

This Sunday, Feb 27, 2:30, in the Ellipse building of San Diego First Church of the Nazarene, ALL GOD'S CHILDREN will view the amazing doc film For the Bible Tells Me So, directed by Daniel Karslake.  http://www.forthebibletellsmeso.org/index2.htm

If you care about gay persons and are trying to figure out how to be Christ to them, this screening is for you. Or if you are gay and are tempted to give up on the church, this film is also for you!

    ALSO . . .

Monday, Feb. 28 is the monthly PFLAG (Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays) meeting (7:00 pm) in The Cove of the United Methodist Center building of First United Methodist Church, http://fumcsd.org/visitors/maps.shtml .

The speaker, Michael Bussee, co-founded EXODUS International, probably the most significant of the so-called ex-gay organizations, but has since come out (again) and has repudiated his brainchild organization.

PLEASE go to this web site: http://www.pflag.com/pdf/pf_news_current.pdf for more details on Bussee and PFLAG news.

PFLAG SD applauds Maryland state Senate

PFLAG SAN DIEGO APPLAUDS MARYLAND SENATE VOTE

PFLAG SAN DIEGO congratulates the members of the Maryland State Senate who yesterday passed legislation that will end centuries of discrimination against same-sex couples and their families. We urge the state's House of Delegates to pass theReligious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act and send it to Governor Martin O'Malley for his signature.

We believe that allowing same-sex couples access to civil marriage is a matter of simple fairness. There are simply no credible arguments, religious or otherwise, that justify denying same-sex couples and their families the protections that civil marriage confers upon heterosexual couples.

We are delighted that Maryland's senators, like dozens of other politicians in legislatures and state houses across the country, are recognizing this fact.

Now can we stop all the nonsense in California?

Can those politically involved churches stay out of politics and stop their vicious fight against our loved LGBT friends and family?

We demand same rights for all here in California too!

    Thank you,
    Patti Boman

Located in the Community Resource Room, The Center's library contains nearly 7,000 LGBT-related books. Video NOM doesn't want you to see

    Courage Campaign

"I'm not really so different from any of your children. My family really isn't so different from yours. So what your voting here isn't to change us. It's not to change our families. It's to change how the law views us, how the law treats us." -Zach Wahls

NOM doesn't want you to see this video.

Right now NOM, the so-called National Organization for Marriage, a right-wing extremist group that spent millions to pass Prop 8, are gathering their forces in Iowa in an effort to take civil-unions away from same-sex couples.

They seek to use fear tactics and lies to mislead Iowans about our families, and we can't let them get away with it. We must share our stories to defend equality.

And that's exactly what Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student, did.

By telling our stories, we can change hearts and minds.

That's why the Courage team is hard at work gearing up to launch the next phase of our Testimony website, to make sure stories like Zach's are told all across America. And that's why it's so important that you help us share Zach's story now.

We know that when we tell our stories, we win.

    Together we can,

    Andy Kelley
    New Media Organizer, Courage Campaign

Not on Facebook? Click here to watch Zach's story.
The Courage Campaign is a multi-issue online organizing network that empowers more than 700,000 grassroots and netroots supporters to push for progressive change and full equality in California and across the country.
